The month of October is the month celebrated as the month of Armenian culture in the Diaspora, observing the history and uniqueness of the Armenian language, traditional music and dance, and much more. On October 9, 2009, Ferrahian celebrated Armenian culture with a special assembly put together by the Armenian Department, in which the whole school participated.

Masters of Ceremonies Zarouhi Abrahamian and Tania Kurbessoian lead the assembly, which featured popular Armenian poetry, music, and dance. A special slide show, which taught students about Armenian cultural instruments and artists, was put together by the school’s Middle School Armenian students. Onik Alajajyan from 9th grade played the popular song, “La Boheme,” by French-Armenian singer Charles Aznavour.

As a special performance, 12th graders Maral Aghvinian, Angela Babadjanian, Ani Broutian, Vana Panossian, and Sevag Touloumjian danced a beautiful Armenian national dance, which they put together and rehearsed on their own. The audience was very impressed by their performance.

This year’s cultural celebration at Ferrahian was one to remember.
